We like fast. We live in a society where instant gratification is everything. As soon as we place an order online we are already looking for the email with the tracking information so we know exactly when our package will arrive. We have no sense of patience and waiting on things to happen. With our society being so hustle and bustle, we struggle to be patient with the things that are out of our control. However, God doesn’t work this way. God works outside of time, so things happen in his ideal timing, because he knows exactly when to act.
Waiting of God can be extremely difficult, since there are so many unknowns for us. However, we need to learn that God acts in time for our benefit. “The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake” (2 Peter 3:9). Whatever God promises to do, he will come through. We can trust that when he says he will do something, he will do it. It might not be in the time or the way we think, but God always comes through, every time.
We need to learn to grow in patience with the Lord. “Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised” (Hebrews 10:36). We need to have full trust in Christ knowing that he works everything out exactly how and when it was meant to be. Patience isn’t always easy, especially when we are walking through something painful. That can be a tricky time for patience, but again, we need to trust that even in the midst of the hardest times in our lives, God is working in each of those moments and is working everything out at just the right time. God knows what we need when we need it. We can have faith that he will always provide, and if there is something he is not providing, maybe we don’t actually need it. Or maybe it is not the right time for us to have it. Or maybe God is trying to teach us something before he give it to us. If you are waiting on something and it doesn’t happen, trust that it either wasn't meant for you to have, or God will give it to you at the exact right time.
If we are waiting on something from God, we can trust that he is working out everything in his perfect timing, we just have to wait for it. “Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord” (Psalm 27:14).
